Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position at an academic medical center. The role requires PICU and NICU experience with floating across multiple pediatric units and a 7p-7a night shift schedule.

The ideal candidate holds an active VA or Compact RN license, at least two years of PICU experience, and certifications including BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS. Epic EMR experience and teaching hospital background are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Active VA or Compact RN license; pending license accepted if in hand by start date
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience; comfortable with NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
• Infant-Driven Feeding (Dr. Brown's) Certification; certification may be pending (cost $185)
• Epic EMR experience
• Teaching hospital experience
• Travel experience required; NICU/PICU float pool experience preferred
• Pediatric PACU experience preferred
• Two professional references required
• Driver's license and Social Security card required
• BSN preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Pediatric Float Pool (SRO) across PICU, NICU, Pedi Med/Surg, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric ED Boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
• Academic teaching hospital environment
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule (7p-7a), 3x12-hour shifts
• 36 or 48 hours available per week
• Block scheduling not available
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• 13-week contract
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating across all assigned pediatric units within scope of practice
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
• RTO up to 40 hours per 13-week contract; no RTO first 2 weeks
• No radius rule; local candidates accepted
• Preferred skills include CRRT, ECMO, ICP monitoring, CHD/repair, post cardiac surgery care, chemotherapy administration
