Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric ICU RN with an active NJ or Compact license and 2+ years of PICU critical care experience for a night shift assignment.

Responsibilities include caring for a 19-bed PICU, floating as needed, with EPIC charting and 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00-07:30). Travel nursing experience is required; BLS/PALS are required with NRP preferred. Navy blue scrubs? not specified.

Qualifications

• Prior travel nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Support 19-bed PICU with variable acuity and stepdown capability.
• Provide care for infants, children, and adolescents in PICU.
• Support night shifts: 3x12-hour schedule, 19:00–07:30.
• Float within unit per census and acuity, with 1:1–2 ratio.
• Rotate weekends and holidays as needed.
• Maintain EPIC EMR documentation and charting.
• Adhere to ICU protocols and family-centered care.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric ICU RN with active NJ or Compact license and 2+ years of PICU critical care experience for a night shift assignment.

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience required, with 1 year of cardiac experience strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, airway care, and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care)
• Experience with renal care including peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis management
• Proficient in administration of anti-seizure medications, antiarrhythmics, sedation, and vasopressors
• Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system
• Experience assisting with lumbar punctures and managing hydrocephalus/VP shunts
• Telemetry monitoring experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• 19-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit supporting critical care patients with variable acuity and stepdown capability
• Patient population includes infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients
• PICU ratios of 1:1-2, with potential floating to stepdown (1:3), pediatrics (1:4-5), or NICU (1:2-3) based on skillset
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Floating required within skillset as needed based on census and acuity
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with variable acuity in a high-acuity PICU setting
• Unit is part of a nationally recognized Children's Heart Center and supports both cardiac and medical/surgical ICU populations with 24/7 intensivist-led coverage
• Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Former employees of the health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
