Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric ICU RN for a float pool position at a children's hospital in Charleston, SC. Requires 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience and SC or Compact RN licensure, with BLS and PALS.

The role features a day shift schedule of 3x12s from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week, with 1:2 or 1:3 patient ratios. Epic EMR experience preferred; travel and licensure reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
• Experience with pediatric dosage calculations
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, acute airway maintenance, and ABG interpretation
• Experience managing chest tubes, central/PICC lines, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• ICP monitoring experience for neurologic care
• Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of infection control, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Pediatric Critical Care float pool position within the PICU
• Float pool RN will work across all pediatric units in the children’s hospital, including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
• Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, 36 hours/week
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
• Required to work every other weekend and rotate holidays
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across multiple ICU-level units
• Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval based on unit needs
• First-time travelers accepted if they meet the required experience
• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local
• Local candidates are accepted on a case-by-case basis
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration for approval based on unit needs
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June-November, peak August-September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
