American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatrics position requiring CA RN license, BSN, and prior peds med/surg and step-down experience at a teaching hospital.
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of submission
- BSN required
- AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric med/surg and step-down nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required and must be reflected in employment history
- Epic charting experience required
- CPI certification preferred
- Skills required include medication administration, respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, oxygen delivery, tracheostomy care), GI care (feedings, NG tube management), IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, TPN/lipids, infection prevention/isolation precautions, and renal/genitourinary care (urinary catheter, peritoneal dialysis)
- Behavioral health experience preferred
- Two professional references from most recent employer required for consideration
Responsibilities
- Pediatric unit within a teaching hospital medical center
- Patient population includes pediatric medical/surgical, step-down, and neurologic cases including seizure disorders
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Variable 12-hour day/night shifts (3x12), combining days and nights within a 4-week scheduling period
- Required to float to multiple facility locations within a 75+ mile radius as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
- Required to work Christmas and New Year's holidays
- Provide direct patient care to pediatric med/surg, step-down, and neurology patients including seizure disorder management
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
- All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and none permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work on the same unit
