Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a PACU position in California with a CA RN license and at least 2 years of inpatient acute PACU experience. The role requires BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, with CCRN/CPAN preferred, and offers opportunities across multiple hospital sites within the system.

The candidate will support pre- and post-operative care in PACU, work 5x8 shifts (0600–0830 starts), and may need to float between facilities. Epic EMR experience is required.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required, pending license accepted.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• CCRN and CPAN certifications preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient acute PACU experience required.
• ICU and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Experience with ENT, General, Gyn, Neuro, Ortho, Plastics, Urology and Vascular cases preferred.
• Cardiac monitoring, arterial line management and dysrhythmia recognition preferred.
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment in the last 3 years required.
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU unit of an acute care hospital
• Day and evening shifts (5x8 hours) with staggered starts 0600–0830
• Remain until case completion as outpatient surgery has no relief
• Floating between sister facilities within the system
• EMR: Epic required
• Provide perianesthesia nursing care in pre- and post-operative phases
• Scrubs or business casual attire permitted
• Commit to 3 of 5 major holidays
• RTO requests limited; local candidates within 50 miles preferred
• Former staff must wait 3 months before traveling again

• Nurses are expected to remain until the completion of their assigned cases, as outpatient surgery does not offer shift relief
• Floating between sister facilities within the system may be required

• Scrubs or business casual attire permitted
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront
• Candidates living within 50 miles may be considered local, though travel pay may still apply
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
