Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric PACU RN for a 13-week night shift position in Charlottesville, VA. Requires Level I Trauma Center experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

You will cover a 10-bed pediatric PACU with an additional PSOU, on a 3x12 hour night schedule, maintaining a 1:4 patient ratio. Epic EMR experience is required; travel housing and per diem are offered.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license (or accepted if in hand by start)
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications are required
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Epic charting experience
• Experience managing pediatric patients
• Two professional references required

Responsibilities

• Night shift: 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• 10-bed pediatric preop/postop unit plus 4-bed PSOU
• Patient ratio 1:4; Epic EMR experience required
• Floating within scope of practice as needed
• 13-week assignment length
• RTO up to 40 hours per 13 weeks; disclose at consideration
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers not considered

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric PACU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring Level I Trauma Center experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience managing pediatric patients
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory monitoring, airway management, IV therapy, and medication administration preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Responsibilities

• 10-bed pediatric preoperative and postoperative unit with an additional 4-bed Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit (PSOU)
• PSOU provides specialized postoperative care for pediatric patients requiring overnight observation or extended recovery up to 23 hours
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
• Provide perianesthesia nursing care to pediatric patients in both PACU and extended recovery settings
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
