Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring general surgery, GYN, and urology experience along with active IL licensure.

Responsibilities include working in a 28-suite surgical department with 14 general surgery suites, handling 20-40 cases daily, and using EPIC OP Time EMR. Shifts are 12 hours, with on-call and weekend requirements, plus hospital orientation and scrubs provided.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years experience in general surgery, GYN, and urology.
• ENT experience required.
• EPIC EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 28-suite surgical department within an acute care hospital setting, including 14 suites dedicated to general surgery.
• Average of 20-40 general surgery cases per day.
• Common procedures include lap chole, lap colon, lap appy, cysto, DaVinci robotic cases, hysterectomy, vascular, ENT, and urology cases.
• Work alongside surgical technologists and a charge nurse who assists with cases.
• Uses EPIC OP Time EMR system.
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 7:00am-5:30pm or 12:30pm-11:00pm to total 36-40 hours per week.
• Schedule determined by block scheduling based on need; no self-scheduling.
• On-call required approximately once per week with call hours varying between 3:30pm-7:00am depending on assignment.
• Weekend call required every other or every third weekend, including full weekend shifts with an assigned call shift.
• Call response time is 30 minutes.
• Floating required to other surgery teams or SPD if qualified.
• Provide perioperative nursing care across general surgery, urology, GYN, and ENT cases.

• Experience in facilities and operating rooms of similar size within the last 2 years preferred
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels
