Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a small rural Louisiana hospital. The OR circulator will support multiple specialties and be on-call several days per week; Epic EMR experience is required.

Candidates must have travel RN experience and a current LA license. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of recent OR experience across gynecologic, general, pediatric general, orthopedic and endoscopic procedures, plus strong blood product

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand at time of submission.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in OR or circulating role
• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in OR-related fields
• Epic EMR experience required
• Previous travel RN experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with multiple surgical procedures (gynecologic, general, pediatric general, orthopedic, endoscopic, vascular, urologic, ENT, bariatric, thoracic, and oral)
• Proficiency in blood/blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, infection control, wound management
• Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response and safety procedures
• Experience with electrosurgical units and Steris equipment
• Current driver's license required
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit in a small rural, multi-disciplinary hospital setting
• Average daily census of 10 patients across 4 operating rooms
• OR circulator responsible for OR surgery, C-sections, PACU, and endoscopy coverage
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
• Call required 1 day per week and every 4th to 5th weekend
• On-call staff must arrive within 30 minutes of call out
• Float to other departments when census is low
• Not a designated trauma facility, though occasional trauma cases may present through the ER
• Uses Epic EMR
• Serve as OR circulator supporting surgical, C-section, PACU, and endoscopy procedures
• First week on the unit includes 2 days of buddy call for orientation
• Orientation held 5 days a week
• Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start
• All RTO must be documented and discussed during interview
• Former staff or in-house agency contractors must have 1-year separation before returning as travel
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team during declared emergencies

• Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris equipment
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
