American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week day shift assignment in Illinois. Active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years OR nursing experience are required.

BLS/ACLS certifications are required, EMR familiarity preferred, and teaching hospital experience is a plus. The role involves day shift hours from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM with potential to float within the facility to meet patient and department needs.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI not accepted).
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Experience with charting in any EMR system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in an ambulatory OR setting or general/hybrid/trauma OR as needed.
• Work day shift: 6:45 AM–3:15 PM, 5 days per week.
• May float within scope to meet facility needs.
• Care for Neuro/Spine, Ortho, Ortho/Spine, Ortho/Total Joints and Podiatry cases.
• Administer anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks.
• Perform pre/post-operative assessments and medication administration.
• Travelers welcome; maintain adherence to holiday requirements and 50-mile radius rule.

• Experience with any charting system accepted, though prior EMR exposure preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Responsibilities

• Ambulatory OR setting preferred, though general, hybrid, or trauma OR experience is acceptable
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (6:45 AM - 3:15 PM)
• May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Surgery cases include Neuro/Spine, Ortho, Ortho/Spine, Ortho/Total joints, and Podiatry
• Involves various anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks
• Responsibilities include pre/post-operative care, patient assessments, and medication administration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No more than 5 non-holiday RTO days ideally requested
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Floating required, potentially to nearby affiliate facilities
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted, subject to the 50-mile radius rule for OR RN positions
