Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 10-week night shift contract at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center requiring CT/compact RN licensure and large trauma hospital experience.

The role involves telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response participation on a busy academic medical center unit. Night hours, weekend coverage, and disaster/emergency readiness are part of the assignment.

Qualifications

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience required (1.5 years from Level I trauma center acceptable)
• Large trauma center experience required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations; COVID vaccine/booster with exemptions only

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a Level I Trauma Center with 1,000+ beds
• Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule (19:00-07:00)
• Average patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic for charting
• Travelers participate in disaster or emergency response activities

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 10-week night shift contract at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center requiring CT/compact RN licensure and large trauma hospital experience.

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience required (1.5 years considered if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
• Large trauma center experience required
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response/code team participation
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen tanks, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• 1 professional reference required
• Previous charge experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a Level I Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center with over 1,000 beds
• Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule (19:00-7:00)
• Average patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic for charting
• 10-week contract specifically for winter coverage
• Provide telemetry and cardiac monitoring care to medical/surgical patients, including dysrhythmia management and emergency response
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities if needed
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine/booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed, with no holiday RTO permitted
• Local candidates not accepted unless within a waived radius for this 10-week assignment
• Former staff must have been separated from permanent employment for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
