American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 28-bed Neuro Trauma stepdown unit requiring trach/vent and drip titration experience. This travel assignment features a Level 2 trauma facility with a 1:4–5 day/1:5–6 night ratio and night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with self-scheduling and every other weekend.

Nurses newer to trach/vent care will have training opportunities. Active WI license, BLS/NIHSS, and 2 years of Med/Surg/ICU experience are needed, plus references.

Formación

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date.
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU experience with recent work in this setting.
• Drip titration experience required.
• Trach and vent experience strongly preferred; willingness to train if not already experienced.
• Two professional references: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor.

Responsabilidades

• Care on a 28-bed PCU/stepdown neuro trauma unit at an acute care Level 2 trauma facility.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios 1:4–5 days and 1:5–6 nights, depending on acuity.
• Patient population includes strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, post TNK/TPA care, and other neuro specialties.
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3% saline, and Insulin.
• RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2 monitoring.
• Cerner EMR; transitioning to Epic.
• Night shift 19:00–07:30 with self-scheduling available 6 weeks ahead.
• Every other weekend (Fri–Sun) required; typically 2–3 holidays in winter; no call/standby.
• Floating to sister med/surg units across 6 specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, ortho, and heme/onc.
• 13-week assignment; orientation includes a general shift and a preceptor shift.
• Care for high-acuity neuro trauma patients including stroke and spinal injuries.

Responsibilities

• 28-bed PCU/stepdown unit specializing in neuro trauma care at an acute care, Level 2 trauma facility
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights, dependent on acuity
• Patient population includes strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barre, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA post-care, endovascular and other neuro specialties, AMS, dementia, and trauma ortho injuries
• RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
• RT equipment used includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2 monitoring
• Central tele monitoring located off-unit
• Nurse aide ratios are 1:9 days and 1:12 nights
• Charge nurse takes a full team on nights and a smaller assignment on days
• Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
• Night shift, 1900-0730, with self-scheduling that opens 6 weeks in advance
• Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) required
• Typically 2-3 holidays required during winter, otherwise every other holiday
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to sister med/surg units across 6 specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, ortho, and heme/onc
• 13-week assignment
• Care for a high-acuity neuro trauma patient population including stroke, seizure, and spinal injury cases
• Receive unit orientation consisting of one general shift and one shift with a preceptor
• Any solid color scrub required
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who previously worked at this facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
• Local candidates within 80 miles may be considered at a reduced pay rate
