American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a Level 1 trauma hospital. NIHSS certification and 2+ years of RN current experience are required. Active NE state license or Compact license preferred.

You will work 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700) with potential for unit-floating, direct patient care, and EPIC EMR documentation. Travel-friendly facility offers housing support and competitive pay.

Mansioni

Med/Surg-Tele unit focusing on Neuro patients in a Level 1 trauma facility.
5-6 patient load per nurse on 25-bed unit and nurse-initiated care.
Titrate drips (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) and manage PCA pumps.
Provide direct nursing care: hourly rounding, med administration, and drip titration.
Floating to other Med/Surg units as needed and limited on-call shifts.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a Level 1 trauma hospital requiring NIHSS certification and 2+ years of experience.

Requirements

Active RN license (NE state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required, pending certifications not accepted
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
Acute care and Level 1 trauma setting experience preferred
Must pass a pass/fail open-book exam on orientation skills with a minimum score of 90%
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
Driver's license required to confirm residency for radius eligibility

Responsibilities

Acute care Med/Surg-Tele unit specializing in Neuro patients within a Level 1 trauma facility
25-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
Patient population includes strokes, stable neurological deficits, post neurosurgery procedures, and general Med/Surg overflow cases such as joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, GI bleeds, and sepsis
RNs titrate drips including heparin, lidocaine, ketamine, and manage PCA pumps
Charge nurse present on every shift and takes a patient assignment
Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit at 1:10-20 ratio
Tele techs interpret monitor strips; RNs should maintain general tele awareness
12-hour night shifts (1830-0700), with limited block scheduling available
Travelers are scheduled directly by the facility
Required to work at least every other weekend, with additional shifts possible based on census
2-3 holiday shifts required between Thanksgiving and New Year's
Floating required to other medical surgical areas or units with Med/Surg patients awaiting placement
EPIC EMR used
Provide direct nursing care including hourly rounding, medication administration, and drip titration for Med/Surg-Neuro patients
Manage frequent patient admissions and discharges throughout the shift
Care for a culturally diverse patient population, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese-speaking patients
Mechanical lifts available in alternating patient rooms
2 days of unit-specific orientation provided
Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
First-time travelers with strong clinical backgrounds will be considered, though prior travel experience is preferred
