Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift hospital role. Requires 2+ years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience and an active CA RN license. BLS and EKG certifications are required; IV therapy, phlebotomy, and line care experience are needed.

The position features 4x12 hour night shifts (19:00–07:30) with every other weekend. Floating to Med/Surg and ED holding areas is required based on census.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license is required and in hand at selection.
• BLS and EKG certification required (facility-provided).
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience.
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, line care, and PICC management.
• Telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response protocols.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting.
• Adult general medical/telemetry patients including cardiovascular, GI, renal, and endocrine cases.
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM–7:30 AM).
• Required to work every other weekend; no on-call.
• Floating to Med/Surg and ED holding areas based on census.
• Uses EPIC documentation system; self-scheduling model.
• Provide nursing care to adult med/surg telemetry patients including post cardiac angiogram and post MI cases.
• First-time travelers may be considered with required experience.
• Local candidates within 50 miles subject to different rate; EPIC training during orientation (8–14 hours).

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift hospital role requiring 2+ years of experience and an active CA RN license.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required, in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• EKG certification required (provided by facility)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required (hard stop)
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and port access/management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry (unit and remote)
• Experience with rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with IV insulin and heparin protocols
• Experience with PCA and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Experience with feeding tube care and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• One professional reference required (within 2 years)
• Current Nursys report required (pulled within 2 weeks of consideration)

• Previous permanent staff of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Time off requests must be submitted and approved at the time of consideration; no additional time off may be added afterward
• Local candidates accepted, though at a different rate for those within 50 miles of the facility
• EPIC training modules are completed during orientation and take approximately 8-14 hours
