Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Tele unit in California. Must hold an active CA RN license with at least 2 years of recent experience. The role features a 3x12-hour day shift (6:45 AM–7:15 PM) in a Med/Surg Tele unit using Epic EMR.

Benefits include high pay, housing reimbursement, and travel/licensure support. Local candidates within 50 miles are preferred; returning staff may need a separation period.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs.
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation preferred.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry required.
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with CVA care, feeding tube management, and heparin protocols
• PICC line management and blood product administration experience preferred
• Experience with surgical drains and total joint replacement care preferred
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required
• Copy of all certifications required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for patients of all age and developmental stages.
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Epic EMR experience required
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Provide direct nursing care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Manage care of assigned patients and direct activities of ancillary staff
• Demonstrate leadership skills through performance of charge nurse functions when needed
• Accepts local candidates at the local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning staff/travelers must have a 1-year separation before returning
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Only 1 holiday may be requested off per contract, with holiday coverage expected for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
