Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Greenville, SC. The role requires 2+ years Med/Surg nursing and EPIC EMR proficiency, with an active SC or Compact license and BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications.

You will work day shifts (3x12s) with weekend coverage, and may float to other units as needed. Expect a 1:5 patient ratio and involvement with wound care, drains, IVs, and specialized perioperative procedures; EPIC EMR is used for charting throughout the

Qualifications

• Active RN license (SC or Compact) required.
• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg nursing experience.
• Minimum 1 year EPIC EMR experience.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications.
• Experience with IV therapy and line care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care on a Med/Surg Tele/Telemetry unit.
• Work 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 3x12 hour days; weekends required.
• Float to other units as needed based on census.
• Maintain patient ratio of 1:5.
• Perform procedures including wound VAC, ENT, colorectal surgeries support.
• Utilize Omnicell and EPIC EMR for medication and charting.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE; manage drains and lines.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience and EPIC EMR proficiency.

Requirements

• Active RN license (SC or Compact)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration
• Experience with feeding tube care, Heparin protocols, and PCA management
• Proficiency in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound VAC management
• Must complete an EKG exam and MS/Tele competency as part of the assignment

Responsibilities

• Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Weekend coverage required
• Floating required to other units/campuses as needed based on census, limited to units where competencies have been demonstrated
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Specialized procedures include ENT surgery (trachs, laryngectomy), wound VAC I&D, general surgery (bowel obstructions, mastectomy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, GSW, overdose, hernia repair), and colorectal surgery (colectomy, colostomy)
• Uses specialized equipment including wound vacs, PCA pumps, PICC lines, and drains
• Omnicell medication system
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit, with floating to Med/Surg Tele floors as needed
• Candidates must be experienced in Med/Surg Tele care due to potential floating requirements
• First-time travelers will be considered based on experience
• Orientation occurs every Monday with annual compliance requirements
• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules required to be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility in the health system to be eligible, with reduced eligibility between 90-99.9 miles
