Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with telemetry experience and an active California RN license for a 13-week day shift assignment in Oakland.

The role demands working in a MS/Tele unit with 1:4 patient ratio and a 7:00 AM–7:30 PM schedule. Requirements include CA RN license, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, telemetry experience, and at least 2 years of recent experience; charge nurse experience preferred.

• Telemetry experience required
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Responsibilities

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of an acute care hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• On-call as needed
• May float to other units within scope of practice or to Ashby or Herrick Campus with shuttle service provided
• Floating notice is typically given 1.5 hours prior to shift start
• Provide holistic, patient-centered care including assessment, care planning, and coordination of transitions of care
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to adjust and coordinate daily care plans
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to newly hired staff as needed
• Document patient care and updates accurately in the electronic health record
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only one holiday allowed to be requested
• Holiday coverage includes New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
• Lab work must be completed within 3-5 days of contract signing
• Re-orientation required only if previously oriented at this facility and separated for 6+ months
• Returning staff must have at least one year of separation to reapply as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not required for this role

• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and BiPAP/CPAP management
• Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomy care, wound care, and renal failure management preferred
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required
