Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of experience, travel nursing background, and AWHONN certifications. Prior travel experience and Epic charting proficiency are required to support high-risk pregnancies and urgent cases.

The role covers antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care with night shifts (18:00–06:00) and options for 36 or 48-hour scheduling. High pay, benefits, and travel housing support are included.

Qualifications

• Active TX or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP and AWHONN certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit with Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, LDRP and Mother/Baby.
• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:00.
• Epic charting system used for patient records.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of experience, prior travel experience, and AWHONN certifications.

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, and AWHONN Advanced
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulating/scrubbing, and high-risk delivery support
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, hemorrhage management, and cesarean section recovery
• Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and newborn assessment
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit with Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby settings
• Facility performs 100-200 births per month
• Patient ratios of 1:2 in Labor, 1:3 in Antepartum, and 1:3 in Mother/Baby
• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:00
• 36 or 48 hour scheduling options available
• Epic charting system used
• Responsibilities span antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Provides high-risk antepartum monitoring including NST and OCT testing
• Assists with surgical procedures such as cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
• Supports pain management including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates residing in specific nearby counties are not eligible due to facility contracting restrictions
• Former staff members must wait at least one year before returning as a travelerAll requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration
• No time off approved during the first week of orientation
• No travel pairs or groups accepted for this position
