Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 12-hour night shift assignment in a Level 3 Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of L&D or LDRP experience and WA or compact RN license.

The role involves caring for antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn patients within a high-acuity environment. Nurses may float to other units; travel-friendly orientation is provided.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Fetal Monitoring certification (AWHONN, Relias, or C-EFM) required.
• NRP certification required.
• STABLE certification preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, open to Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, or LDRP RN background.
• Assessment skills for antepartum, laboring, and delivery recovery (vaginal and c-section) required.
• Newborn care (Level I Nursery) and transitional/stabilization skills for newborn and maternal transport required.
• IV starting and lab draw skills required.

Responsibilities

• Women's Services unit in a 123-bed Level 3 Trauma Center community hospital.
• 9 LDRP beds plus overflow capacity for up to 14 beds.
• Cares for antepartum, laboring, post-partum, post-c-section, post-hysterectomy, and newborn patients.
• Labor staff manage antepartum through delivery, c-section circulation, recovery, post-partum and post-surgical hysterectomy care.
• Nursery staff attend all deliveries, provide newborn care for infants 35 weeks and greater, and stabilize patients for transfer.
• 1:1 patient ratios following AWHONN guidelines.
• EPIC EMR used.
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week.
• Shift times are 0700-1930 or 1900-0730 depending on requisition.
• Weekend rotation of 2 weekends in a 6-week schedule or every other weekend.
• Schedule built in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to start.
• Low census call only.
• May float to other units as a helping hand or sitter, subject to recall if home unit census increases.
• Unit supported 24/7 with CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, and resource nurse staff.
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2-3 shifts on the unit depending on comfort level.
• RTO requests go through the manager for approval.
• Scrubs provided and free parking available.
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role.
