Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk OB unit with required evening/night rotation and floating to Postpartum and High-Risk Antepartum.

Requirements include active RN license, BLS and NRP, 2 years of L&D experience, OR license, and Epic EMR experience. The position involves 3x12 shifts, 1:1 to 1:3 nurse ratios, and travel to sister facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Active RN license and must be in hand at submission.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required; AWHONN Intermediate preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required.
• OR RN license required.
• Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Labor & Delivery unit within a short-term acute care hospital.
• High-risk OB patient population with 1:1 and 1:3 ratios.
• Floats to Postpartum and High-Risk Antepartum units, and to sister facilities as needed based on skill set.
• Evening shifts (3x12, 15:00-15:00) or Night shifts (3x12, 3:00-3:00), with set start times of 3am/3pm or 11am/11pm.
• Primarily scheduled on either day or night shifts, with advance notice given for any changes.
• Every other weekend required.
• On-call required if a shift is cancelled.
• 48-hour workweeks approved.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Facility performs 200-300 births per month.
• Provides nursing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum patient populations.
• Assists with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-section procedures.
• Performs neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments.
• Manages pain control methods including epidural anesthesia and nitrous oxide.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer.
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate.
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless accepted as a local candidate.
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius.
• Scrub colors are facility-provided for L&D roles.
• No fee for parking at this facility.

• Current BLS and NRP certifications required; AWHONN Intermediate preferred

• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and use of infusion pumps/drips
• Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating for C-sections required
• Experience with fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns required
• Experience administering medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension management
• Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment
