Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Labor & Delivery/OB in Illinois. Requires L&D/postpartum and Level 2 nursery experience with NRP and BLS certifications. IL RN license active, 1+ year experience (2+ preferred).

12-hour night shifts, potential float to med-surg or ED during surges. EPIC and Pyxis in use; baby-friendly care model; orientation 3 days on-unit. Open to local candidates with a housing allowance; benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), and weekly payroll;

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.
• EFM competency required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience required, 2+ years preferred.
• L&D, postpartum, and Level 2 nursery experience required.

Responsibilities

• Acute care OB unit with 7 beds plus 1 overflow room in an 80-bed hospital.
• Unit composition includes 4 LDRP rooms, 3 postpartum rooms, and 1 delivery/procedure room.
• Patient population includes antepartum, high-risk L&D, and Level 2 nursery cases.
• 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in labor and 1:3 in postpartum, following AWHONN staffing guidelines for patient acuity.
• RN will care for antepartum and postpartum patients; no scrub or circulate duties for C-sections.
• Also responsible for clean gyne surgical patient care.
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a).
• Floating to other departments such as med surg or emergency may be required during surge periods, in rotation with permanent staff.
• EPIC (Community Works) EMR used.
• Pyxis medication system in use with 24/7 pharmacy availability.
• Unit practices baby-friendly care model.
• Orientation consists of 3 days of on-unit learning with 12-hour shifts.
• Scrubs are provided.
• Facility values dependability, positivity, and motivation in travel staff.
• Requested time off must be submitted before contract is finalized.
• Local candidates welcomed; reduced local rate applies for those within 50 miles of the facility.
• No radius restriction for general eligibility.
