Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Labor & Delivery in Rapid City, SD. Requires 2+ years in L&D with an SD or Compact license; BLS/NRP mandatory. NICU and EPIC experience preferred. Will work 12-hour shifts with rotation, floating to postpartum, and occasional nights. Competitive benefits and traveler-friendly terms available.

Open position supports antepartum, labor, NICU, postpartum, and couplet care in a Level 3 facility with comprehensive team support.

Qualifications

• Active RN license SD or Compact required.
• BLS and NRP certification required.
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience.
• EPIC charting experience preferred.
• Competencies in IV starts, cervical checks, and medication administration.
• Ability to care for high acuity labor patients including preeclampsia and preterm labor.
• Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED/Triage beds, and 4 Antepartum rooms.
• Level 3 NICU facility accepting high-risk to low-intervention laboring patients.
• Patient ratios: Antepartum 1:3, Active Labor 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet care 1:3.
• Utilize EPIC EMR, Baxter IV pumps, and Omnicell system for meds.
• 12-hour variable shifts (0630/1830) with Days/Nights rotation.
• Some positions may offer straight Nights and every other weekend rotation.
• Floating to Postpartum/Couplet care throughout contract and holiday coverage.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and a SD or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (SD or Compact) required
• BLS and NRP certification required
• ACLS, inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience required, preferably in a Level 3 or higher NICU facility
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Experience managing high acuity labor patients including preeclampsia, preterm labor and delivery, and antepartum patients less than 35 weeks gestation preferred
• Competency in IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, circulating C-sections, and C-section recovery care required
• Must be comfortable caring for couplets and normal newborn nursery (Level I) patients
• Experience with lower acuity NICU (Level II) patients highly preferred
• Completion of an accredited nursing education program required

• Patient ratios: Antepartum 1:3, Inactive Labor 1:2, Active Labor 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet care 1:3 couplets
• EPIC EMR, Baxter IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system
• 12-hour variable shifts (0630/1830), with Days/Nights rotation required throughout contract
• Some positions may offer straight Nights
• Every other weekend rotation required
• May be placed on low census call
• Floating required to Postpartum/Couplet care throughout contract
• Holiday coverage as needed
• Support team includes Unit Secretary, Scrub Tech, Charge Nurse, VAT team, 24/7 RT, OB Physician team, and Anesthesia/CRNA
• Orientation includes NEO plus 4 days with a preceptor (3 days in L&D, 1 day in PP)
• May be expected to precept nursing students
• Scrub color is Cobalt Blue, provided by the facility
• Free parking available
• Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility
