Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift on a 19-bed unit. Shifts are 7:00 PM–7:00 AM with a 1:2–3 patient ratio and occasional float to Postpartum/Mother Baby.

Epic charting is used to provide care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and mother/baby settings. The role requires at least 2 years L&D experience, active RN license (NC or Compact), BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and STABLE certification; AWHONN Advanced is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required.
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and STABLE.
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced.
• Competent in management of second stage labor and vaginal exams.
• Must be comfortable transitioning newborns in the delivery room.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products.
• Experience with high-risk delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Previous charge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Night shift on a 19-bed Labor and Delivery unit (7:00 PM–7:00 AM).
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3 with occasional float to Postpartum/Mother Baby.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and mother/baby settings.
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and neonatal resuscitation.
• Support postpartum care including breastfeeding/lactation support, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment.
• Administer medications such as antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline.
• Manage pain interventions including epidural anesthesia and opioid administration.
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Follow isolation precautions/PPE protocols and administer vaccines as needed.
• Candidates residing in Moore County are not eligible for this position; all other local candidates accepted.
• First-time travelers are accepted with required L&D experience.
• Previous FirstHealth employees must be separated from employment for at least 1 year to be considered.

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and mother/baby settings
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and neonatal resuscitation
• Support postpartum care including breastfeeding/lactation support, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment
