American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications on a combined L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and Level II nursery unit.
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Experience with any charting system required
- Skills required include labor and delivery management, pitocin (oxytocin) administration, recovery from C-section, IV therapy/phlebotomy, antepartum care and procedures, and triage of obstetrical patients
- bCPAP skill preferred
Responsibilities
- Combined unit servicing L&D (vaginal & cesarean), postpartum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
- Patient population includes Level 2 inpatient obstetrical and Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele, GYN/medical overflow, antepartum, observational triage, mother-baby couplet care, and border babies
- Performs obstetrical procedures including versions, induction of labor (IOL), cervical ripening, IUFD care and bereavement support, and cesarean sections
- Staffing ratios include 1:1 for complications or active labor, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable/ill antepartum, 1:3-4 for couplet care, 2:1 for deliveries, and 1:2-3 for NICU Level 2 depending on condition
- Night shift (3x12 hours), 19:00-07:00
- On-call requirement of 48 hours within a 6-week block
- When floated outside of specialty, utilized as helping hands using general nursing skills to assist assigned nurses
- No previous permanent employment with the facility within the past 24 months allowed
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- RTO policy tied to holidays falling within the assignment: work one holiday if one falls in the assignment, work one if two fall, and work two if three fall
- General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
- Zero-tolerance policy for THC, including medical marijuana cards, with drug screening required during compliance and again on day one
- Fit testing required, including shaving per facility policy unless an approved medical exemption letter is provided prior to start
- First-time travelers considered only if they have at least 2 years of L&D experience
