Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment in Texas. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of L&D experience and prior travel nursing experience, with active TX or compact RN licensure and required certifications.

Epic EMR experience is essential. Responsibilities include care across antepartum, labor, delivery and postpartum stages, with support for high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal care.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required.
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Epic charting (EMR) experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Labor & Delivery unit with support for Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby areas.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:00.
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
• Support high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal care in the delivery room.
• Deliver patient education on breastfeeding, newborn care, and discharge planning.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Charge nurse, teaching hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management, IV therapy, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care

Responsibilities

• Work in the Labor & Delivery unit, with support for Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby areas
• Facility performs 100-200 births per month
• Patient ratios of 1:2 for Labor, 1:3 for Antepartum, and 1:3 for Mother/Baby
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:00
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Broad range of L&D procedures including vaginal and C-section deliveries, high-risk delivery assistance, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
• Support high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal care in the delivery room
• Perform fetal monitoring including EFM, IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart patterns
• Deliver patient education on breastfeeding, newborn care, and discharge planning
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted
• Travelers residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted prior to consideration, with no more than 3 days automatically approved and none during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups will not be considered
