Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week acute care assignment in California. The role requires CA RN license, active BLS/ACLS/NRP and Adv-AWHONN fetal monitoring certification, and at least 2 years of L&D experience.

Shifts are 12 hours, day shifts, with every other weekend; Cerner EMR is used. Travel housing options and comprehensive benefits are provided to travelers seeking housing support and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (Adv-AFM) certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required.
• COVID vaccine required.
• Driver's license copy required for consideration.
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Family Birth Center unit with 3 rooms, which may cross over to Med-Surg support when full.
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:4 depending on acuity.
• Approximately 150-175 births per year.
• Uses Cerner EMR.
• 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend.
• First to float, primarily assisting with tasking in Med-Surg.
• Floor-specific orientation provided, at least 2 days per unit floated to
• Charge nurse support available on the unit.
• No dedicated IV team, no tele or vent management on this unit.
• RT support available 24/7; pharmacy not available 24/7
• May be the only L&D nurse on-site, with efforts made to have a second L&D nurse on call
• Responsible for assisting with newborn care during C-sections alongside RT and anesthesia support
• Patients at 36 weeks gestation or less are typically transferred to Rogue Valley Medford or life-flighted to Mercy Redding
• Hospital-issued ceil blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage follows the permanent staff rotation schedule
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
