Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week evening assignment in California. Requires CA RN license, travel nursing background, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certs. 2+ years L&D, IV therapy, blood product administration, and high-risk obstetrics experience are essential.

Shift is 3x12 hours (3:00 PM–3:00 AM) with every other weekend. Housing allowances and travel reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

Active CA RN license required.
Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications.
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience.
Previous travel nursing experience required.
Experience with high-risk antepartum and L&D management.
Knowledge of fetal monitoring and IUPC placement.
Two supervisor references obtained within the past year.

Responsibilities

Work in the Labor and Delivery unit, floating to Antepartum as needed.
Manage patient care from admission to discharge as primary nurse.
Maintain patient safety, comfort, hygiene and infection control.
Respond to medical and environmental emergencies when needed.
Uphold 1:2 patient ratio and 3x12 hour evening shifts.
No on-call requirements and occasional weekend work.
Epic charting system preferred.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week evening shift assignment requiring prior travel experience and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.

Requirements

Active CA RN license required
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
Previous travel nursing experience required
Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
Experience with high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery management, including amnioinfusion, vaginal and C-section deliveries, and forceps/vacuum extraction
Experience caring for patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa/abruptio, and multiple gestation
Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and breastfeeding support
Knowledge of fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Responsibilities

Work in the Labor and Delivery unit, floating to Antepartum as needed
Facility performs 200-300 births per month
1:2 patient ratio
Evening shift, 3x12 hours (3:00 PM-3:00 AM)
Every other weekend required
No on-call responsibilities
Epic charting system preferred
Serve as primary nurse managing overall patient care from admission to discharge
Responsible for patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention measures
Respond to medical and environmental emergencies as needed
Must reside within a 50-mile radius for local rate consideration
Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request permitted per contract
Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
Returning staff or travelers must have a minimum 1-year separation before returning
