Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Labor & Delivery. Requires 3+ years in L&D, AFM certification, and an Active RN license (AZ or Compact). C-section experience and strong fetal monitoring skills are essential.

The role includes night 12-hour shifts, weekend coverage, and on-call duties in a Level 3 trauma center. The unit handles 1–3 births daily with 7 L&D beds, 2 triage, and 10 postpartum beds, offering travel and licensure reimbursements, housing allowance, and comprehensive

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years L&D experience
C-section experience required
Proficient in fetal monitoring and responding to distress
Experience with high-risk OB and OB emergencies

Responsibilities

Care for 1-3 births per day in L&D with ~830 births per year
Night shift: 12-hour shifts (6p-6a)
3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and on-call shifts
Possible float to ED or Med-Surg with experience
Operate in L&D and couplet care settings using Allscripts EMR
Collaborate with OB staff and support team

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3+ years of experience and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.

Requirements

Active RN license (AZ State or Compact) currently in hand
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
C-section experience required
Must be proficient in fetal monitoring and appropriate response to fetal distress
Experience caring for high-risk OB patients, including pre-eclampsia
Strong clinical assessment skills required to manage OB emergencies independently

Responsibilities

Acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds
Handles 1-3 births per day, approximately 830 births per year
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (6p-6a)
Requires 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
On-call requirement of one shift per 4-week schedule
May float to Emergency Department or Med-Surg units if experienced
Must be able to function in L&D and couplet care settings
Uses Allscripts EMR
Provide comprehensive nursing care in a Labor & Delivery unit without an in-house OB or neonatologist
Work alongside support staff including OB scrub tech, HUC, patient care technician, and respiratory therapist available 24/7
24/7 in-house pharmacy support available
Nurse manager may occasionally assist with direct patient care
Orientation held every Monday
Level 3 trauma center setting
