Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery travel assignment in Texas. Requires 5 years L&D experience and TX or compact RN license, with BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications.

Responsibilities include antepartum and high-risk care, assisting with high-risk deliveries and C-sections, neonatal care, lactation support, and pain management. On-site 7:00 AM–7:30 PM shifts, with on-call and travel reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required.
• AWHONN Intermediate certification required; Advanced preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
• Previous travel assignment experience required.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience with high-risk delivery, C-section, and vaginal deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Labor & Delivery unit with Antepartum and High Risk Antepartum care.
• Care for 100-200 births per month.
• Day shift 7:00 AM–7:30 PM; 3x12 hours.
• On-call, weekend, float, and holiday coverage as needed.
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum.
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries.
• Neonatal care, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation.
• Support breastfeeding and lactation per baby-friendly protocols.
• Manage pain control including epidural and PCA.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 5 years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate certification required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Military-issued certifications accepted; AHA preferred, ARC not accepted
• Minimum 5 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Previous travel assignment experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and vaginal delivery support
• Skilled in fetal monitoring (external and internal) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and other L&D medication administration
• Competency in postpartum care including cesarean section, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage management
• State-issued ID required for consideration
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Labor & Delivery unit with Antepartum and High Risk Antepartum care
• Facility delivers approximately 100-200 births per month
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• On-call, weekend, float, and holiday coverage may be required
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries including forceps/vacuum extraction
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Support breastfeeding and lactation per baby-friendly protocols
• Manage pain control methods including epidural and PCA
• Local candidates within 90 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• RTO limited to 5 non-consecutive days, with only one holiday RTO request approved during Nov-Jan
• All RTO must be approved by management prior to contract signing
