Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a 15-bed unit in Massachusetts. The role requires 2 years of L&D experience and an active MA RN license, with travel nursing background preferred.

Candidates should have ACLS, BLS, NRP and AWHONN Beginner certifications; AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate preferred. Night shifts are 4x12s, with every other weekend coverage and newborn care responsibilities.

• Every other weekend coverage
• Newborn nursery available for infants needing special care
• Charge responsibilities not required
• Use Omnicell and SBAR communication method
• Support couplet care and pregnancies with complications

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 15-bed unit requiring 2 years of L&D experience and an active MA RN license.

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required in hand
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Beginner
• AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred, though not required for this role
• Cerner charting experience preferred but not required
• Skills needed include labor and delivery management, fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement/calibration, vaginal delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, C-section recovery, and postpartum care
• Experience with pain management including epidural and general anesthesia
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and Terbutaline
• Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and newborn assessments

Responsibilities

• 12-hour night shifts (4x12), 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend coverage required
• 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit with inpatient rooming where infants stay with mothers
• Newborn nursery available for infants requiring specialized care
• Patient population includes neonates and adults
• Uses Omnicell medication system
• Uses SBAR communication method
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Perform antepartum care including NSTs and obstetrical triage
• Support couplet care, multiple births, and patients with postpartum hemorrhage or pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Charge responsibilities are not required or preferred for this role
• First-time travelers will be screened for experience and may be considered
• Returning staff must wait one year before being eligible to return as a traveler
