Epic charting experience and neonatal care are valued, with travel lodging and licensure reimbursements offered.

The role covers antepartum, LDRP, and mother/baby care in a hospital setting. Night shifts, floating, and a strong team approach are part of the position.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit across antepartum, LDRP, Level I Nursery, and Mother/Baby settings.
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, NPs, and CRNAs as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Utilize Pyxis and Epic for documentation and medication management.
• Floating to other units or facilities as needed within scope of practice.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring an OH or compact license, NRP certification, and at least 2 years of L&D experience.

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced), FHM, and STABLE certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with antepartum care including sterile speculum exams, NST, reflex checks, and fetal monitoring
• Experience managing high-risk conditions including HELLP syndrome, pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and VBAC/trial of labor
• Experience with labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
• Experience with newborn care including metabolic screening, phototherapy, and neonatal abstinence syndrome care
• Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and anticoagulation therapy
• Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment, lactation support, and wound care
• Experience with pain management including epidural, general anesthesia, and PCA use
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including blood product administration and infusion pump use
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience, including adult and neonatal arrest situations
• Experience with isolation precautions, PPE, and vaccine administration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the last 24 months required
• Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained

Responsibilities

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital, covering Antepartum, LDRP, Level I Nursery, Low Risk, and Mother/Baby settings
• Patient population includes neonates, infants, and adults
• Average daily census of 4 with 13 rooms and 10 beds
• Staffing ratio of 1:3 for days, nights, and weekends (1:1 for labor, 1:3 for couplet care)
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within scope of practice, including potential floating to other units or facilities
• Uses Pyxis medication system and Epic for documentation
• SBAR communication system utilized
• Provider support includes interpretation services, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, and unit secretary
• Provider coverage includes NP, CRNA, hospitalist, and anesthesiologist
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care across antepartum, LDRP, nursery, and mother/baby settings
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team including anesthesiologists, hospitalists, NPs, and CRNAs
• Scrubs are provided
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• Open to first-time travelers if highly experienced in LDRP, though experienced travelers are preferred
• Previous staff must have a 1-year gap since last working at the facility before returning as a travel clinician
• Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval, and time off on holiday eves or the days following holidays is not permitted
• Schedule may be adjusted with two weeks' notice to balance unit staffing needs
