Job summary
American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for Labor & Delivery in Lake Charles, LA, on a night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) for 13 weeks. The role requires active Louisiana RN license or compact, BLS/ACLS/NRP, and fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN or NCC EFM).
Responsibilities include labor/delivery care, newborn assessing post-delivery, and adherence to facility nurse-to-patient ratios. Perinatal experience preferred; BSN encouraged.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Louisiana or compact facility.
- BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications required.
- Certification in AWHONN FHM or NCC EFM.
- 1 year of related nursing specialty experience preferred.
- BSN preferred.
- Perinatal RN Residency or recent Perinatal setting experience preferred.

- Labor and Delivery RN caring for deliveries and antepartum patients.
- Provide newborn assessments after delivery.
- Night shift 7:00 PM–7:00 AM; 36 hours/week.
- No on-call and no floating.
- Follow specified nurse-to-patient ratios for obstetric care.

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel position requiring AWHONN or NCC fetal monitoring certification and NRP certification.
- Labor and Delivery unit caring for deliveries, circulating c-sections, and antepartum patients
- Provides initial newborn assessments following delivery
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- No on-call responsibilities
- No floating required
- Follows AWHONN nurse-to-patient ratio standards, including 1:1 for Pitocin induction/augmentation, 1:2 for cervical ripening, 1:2-3 for antepartum and triage, and 1:1 for immediate postpartum care
- Active RN license in Louisiana or compact
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- Certification required in one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- 1 year of related nursing specialty experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Perinatal RN Residency or recent Perinatal setting experience preferred
- Provides nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Administers medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided
- Educates patients and families on care needs and available resources
- Navy blue or pink scrubs required
- Must complete New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days of hire
- Precepted by a designated trained staff member with completion of organizational and Perinatal Services-specific competency validations
- Must complete all annual competency verification requirements
- Previous non-travel employment with any CHRISTUS facility requires a 6-month separation before eligibility for a travel assignment
