Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment at a teaching hospital in Knoxville, TN. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of current L&D experience and TN or compact RN licensure.

You will work 3x12 hour nights (18:45–07:15) with 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratios for laboring patients and 1:8 for postpartum, with on-call shifts and periodic floating.

Qualifications

  • Active TN or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of submittal.
  • Minimum 2 years current Labor & Delivery experience required.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN-Intermediate, and NRP.
  • NIHSS certification may be obtained after acceptance.
  • FHM certification preferred.
  • Licensure/certifications must not expire within 45 days of start date.
  • Prior travel nurse experience required.
  • Experience with high-risk antepartum care, fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement and calibration.
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line maintenance (CVC/PICC).
  • Medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy.
  • Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, and performing sterile vaginal exams.

Responsibilities

  • Labor and Delivery unit within a teaching hospital averaging 200-300 births per month.
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15).
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1-2 for laboring patients and 1:8 for postpartum/couplet care.
  • Weekend requirements of every other weekend or 2 weekends per month.
  • On-call requirement of 2 shifts per 6-week schedule period.
  • Floating required per unit policies and clinical experience.
  • Cerner charting experience preferred but not required.
  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum care, obstetrical triage, and high-risk delivery support.
  • Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols as required.
  • Complete required clinical modules during orientation and annually.
  • Holiday and holiday week RTO requests not accommodated.
  • RTO requests may be addressed with the manager after arrival onsite using the RTO form.
  • Former permanent staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months of separation.
  • Related or married travel team members cannot be assigned to the same unit.
  • Local candidates within 75 miles may be considered at a reduced rate.
  • Candidates residing outside 75 miles of the facility are eligible for standard travel rate consideration.

  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility may be considered at a reduced rate
