Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery role on an LDRP unit in Michigan. Active MI RN license, BLS and NRP are required along with 2+ years of relevant experience.

The unit includes 8 L&D/postpartum beds and a Level 1 Nursery, with approximately 25 births per month. Responsibilities include direct patient care across labor, postpartum, and nursery areas, titrating Pitocin, and working 12-hour nights.

Qualifications

• Active MI RN license required by start date.
• BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in labor, postpartum, and nursery care.
• Two professional references (supervisor and peer).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on LDRP unit with 8 L&D/postpartum beds and 2 triage beds.
• Care for Level 1 Nursery infants 35 weeks gestation or greater.
• Handle ~25 births per month.
• Follow AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines.
• Titrate Pitocin drips as needed.
• Support charge nurse in staffing.
• No CNAs or surgical techs on unit.
• OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia not in-house 24/7.
• Operate RT equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP.
• Use OBIX EFM system; transitioning Cerner to Epic.
• 12-hour night shifts 7pm-7am.
• Block scheduling with efforts to group days for travelers.
• Weekend and holiday coverage required.
• No call or standby requirements.
• No floating requirements.
• Provide direct care across labor, postpartum, and nursery areas.
• Unit orientation is 2 days.
• Scrubs: own or facility-supplied gray scrubs.
• Former permanent staff must be separated 6 months and have facility approval to return.

• BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
• Must have skills in labor, postpartum, and nursery care
• 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor

Responsibilities

• LDRP unit setting with 8 L&D/postpartum beds and 2 triage beds in an acute care facility
• Level 1 Nursery caring for infants 35 weeks gestation or greater
• Approximately 25 births per month
• Follows AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines
• RNs are required to titrate Pitocin drips
• Charge nurse is included in the staffing assignment
• No nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
• OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia not in house 24/7
• RT equipment available including vents, CPAP, and BiPap
• Uses OBIX EFM system and a computerized charting system (transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
• 12-hour night shifts from 7pm to 7am
• Block scheduling available, with efforts made to group days for travelers
• Weekend and holiday coverage required
• No call or standby requirements
• No floating requirements
• Provide direct patient care across labor, postpartum, and nursery areas of the LDRP unit
• Unit-specific orientation is 2 days
• May wear own scrubs or facility-supplied grey OR scrubs
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months and require facility approval to return
