American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for night shift in California. CA RN license and 2+ years L&D experience are required, with 3 years preferred. Certifications include ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP, FHM. Epic EMR experience and IV therapy skills are expected. Travel and lodging benefits may apply.

The role involves caring for neonates through adults, 24-bed unit, 1:2 staffing, and on-ward floating to Post Partum/Nursery with call every two weeks.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years Labor and Delivery/Antepartum experience (3 years preferred).
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP, FHM.
• Required skills: circulating, triaging, newborn care, IV therapy, blood products, SVE, recovery, postpartum care, and more.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit with 24 beds and a census of 150-180 births per month.
• Care for neonates, adolescents, and adults with a 1:2 staffing ratio.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30).
• Floating to Post Partum and Nursery units as needed.
• Call required once every two weeks; weekends 7-9 shifts per 6 weeks.
• Unit utilizes Omnicell, Epic, and SBAR systems.
• Provide comprehensive antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.
• Perform fetal monitoring and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Support VBAC management and trials of labor.
• Assist cesarean circulation and recovery.
• Provide breastfeeding and lactation support per baby-friendly protocols.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery/Antepartum experience required (3 years preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP, FHM
• Required skills: circulating, triaging, newborn care, Magnesium and Pitocin administration, SVE, recovery, postpartum care, heel stick, hyperbilirubinemia management (TCB/TSB), discharge instructions, car seat education, blood transfusion, and circumcision care/assist
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and administration of blood & blood products
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs

• Unit utilizes Omnicell, Epic, and SBAR systems
• Scrubs provided
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care stages
• Perform fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and IUPC placement/calibration
• Support VBAC management and trial of labor patients
• Assist with cesarean section circulation and recovery
• Provide breastfeeding and lactation support following baby-friendly protocols
• Charge experience preferred
• First-time travelers welcome to apply if experience requirements are met
• Candidates with extensive travel experience may be considered with 2-2.5 years of experience
• Schedules are built 6 weeks at a time with no block scheduling available
• Call shifts are included in the posted schedule, with additional volunteer call sign-up available
