American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a combined ER/Med-Surg unit on night shifts. ER and Med-Surg experience with BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC is required. CAH setting, EPIC familiarity, and potential charge nurse duties are valued.

The role supports a CAH, with float coverage across Med-Surg, outpatient, and ER areas, using EPIC EMR and Lifepak 15 in a 12-hour night schedule.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact or SD State).
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience.
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience.
• CAH experience preferred; EPIC experience preferred.
• Charge nurse capacity in ER preferred but flexible.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in a CAH acute care setting across Med-Surg, outpatient, and ER.
• RNs float between Med-Surg, outpatient, and ER daily.
• Staffing: 2 RNs per shift with PCT/LPN support; 1:2 to 1:6 ratios.
• Night shift: 12-hour shifts; every other weekend.
• Operate in EPIC EMR; utilize telemetry and Lifepak 15.
• Collaborate with RN peers to cover patient populations.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a combined ER/Med-Surg unit on night shifts, requiring ER and Med-Surg experience along with BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or SD State)
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience required
• Critical access hospital experience preferred
• EPIC experience preferred
• Must be able to function in a charge nurse capacity in the ER, preferred but flexible

Responsibilities

• Critical access hospital (CAH) acute care setting
• Unit cares for Med-Surg, outpatient, and Emergency Department patients
• RNs float daily between Med-Surg, outpatient, and ER areas
• 10 patient rooms with an average of close to 4 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio averages 1:2 or 1:3, up to 1:6 depending on census and charge nurse status
• Minimum staffing of 2 RNs per shift, typically supported by a PCT or LPN
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Equipment includes Philips central monitor/telemetry and Lifepak 15
• No medication dispensing system on unit
• RN works alongside another RN to provide care across Med-Surg, outpatient, and ER patient populations
• Performs typical RN procedures including IV starts and foley catheter insertion
• Orientation can be tailored up to one week, including exposure to both day and night shift operations
• Dress code requires navy scrubs
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Applicants with prior employment at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
• Local candidates within an 80-mile radius may be considered
