Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department assignment in Minnesota. The 13-week contract spot requires 2 years of ER and Med/Surg experience, with TNCC and NIHSS certifications, and an active MN RN license.

The role features 12-hour day/night shifts, EOW, holiday coverage when scheduled, and a travel-friendly environment with generous housing allowances and reimbursements; prior Med/Surg and ED experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Active MN RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years ER experience required.
• Medsurg experience required.
• BSN not required for this position.
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration.
• Two professional references (supervisor within 12 months; peer/supervisor within 3 years).

Responsibilities

• 13-week assignment in a Level IV Trauma ED designated hospital.
• ER has 4 beds and 2 trauma bays; reads own strips using Mindray telemetry.
• Average about 10 patients per day; rotate 12-hour shifts.
• Provide ED nursing care alongside ED physician and charge nurse.
• Floating to Med/Surg and Swing Bed on the same unit as needed.
• RTO must be requested upfront; no call or standby required.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ER and Medsurg experience along with TNCC and NIHSS certifications.

Requirements

• Active MN RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (PALS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Previous Medsurg experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Responsibilities

• 13-week assignment in a Level IV Trauma, STEMI-receiving, and Stroke-designated Emergency Department at a Critical Access Hospital
• ER has 4 beds and 2 trauma bays with ER holds intermixed within the unit and separate psych/seclusion rooms available
• Averages approximately 10 patients per day
• Uses Point Click Care (PCC) EMR
• Uses Mindray telemetry monitors; RNs are required to read their own strips
• No dedicated RT, Tele/Monitor Techs, or in-house 24/7 security in the ER
• Lab staff perform draws and X-ray/CT transport
• Day/night rotating 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a), block scheduling considered
• Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
• Holiday coverage required if it falls within the assigned blocked schedule
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required to Med/Surg and Swing Bed on the same unit
• Provide emergency department nursing care alongside an ED physician and a charge nurse who also takes patient assignments
• No clinical involvement outside standard ED nursing duties
• Nurse aides/EMTs/paramedics/patient sitters available on-call basis
• 12-hour unit/department orientation shift (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
• Navy blue scrub color/dress code
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as a permanent residence
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
• RTO must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
