Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead field work in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport and infrastructure, interfacing with customers and Ericsson’s vendors to maintain high standards of quality and performance.

The role requires hands-on experience with fiber optics, optical testing, and multi-site travel, including short- to long-term deployments.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environment with direct customer interaction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work performed at customer data centers and provide feedback.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, delivering clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using optical power meters, light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by interpreting and executing MoPs, engineering documents, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read and interpret cut sheets and network design documents to ensure correct port connections.
