Job summary

Ericsson Inc. seeks a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead optical infrastructure in customer data centers and co-locations.

You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of optical transport, auditing vendor work and delivering high-quality results in fast-paced environments. The role requires strong hands-on expertise, the ability to travel to non-home market sites for extended periods, and collaboration with customers and Ericsson vendors to uphold safety and quality

Qualifications

• Team lead experience.
• Strong written and verbal English for customer-facing communications.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and documentation skills.
• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations or similar technic al environments with direct customer interaction.
• Hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling (single-mode & multi-mode).
• Experience with optical testing and transport troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and provide immediate feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person, providing clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migration activities.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing using meters, light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by interpreting and executing MoPs, engineering docs, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read cut sheets and network designs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
