Job summary

Amrize is seeking an Equipment Operator in Crofton, MD to safely operate asphalt and heavy construction equipment and support paving operations. You will perform inspections, ensure proper material placement, and coordinate with foremen and crews to maintain safety and efficiency on site.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and 2+ years of hands-on equipment experience, with daily travel and strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience operating asphalt paving or heavy construction equipment.
• Travel daily; must have reliable transportation.
• Experience operating multiple types of equipment.
• Able to operate skid steers, rollers, tack trucks, MTMs, pavers, screeds, milling machines.
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving and construction operations.
• Ability to follow directions under supervision of Foreman or Superintendent.
• Commitment to job-site safety and proper equipment operation.
• Ability to perform daily equipment inspections.
• Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Able to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime as needed.
• Strong communication within a paving crew.
• Willingness to assist with general paving activities.
• Learn and operate additional equipment as needed.
• Professional attitude and meeting project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple asphalt and heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections.
• Support paving and milling operations with proper material placement and grade.
• Maintain density and smoothness of finished pavement.
• Prepare surfaces by milling and removing old asphalt.
• Coordinate with foremen and drivers to keep paving operations efficient.
• Report mechanical issues and safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area according to policy.
