Job summary

Layton Construction Company in Utah seeks a Site Superintendent collaborative to develop, manage, and complete a job plan, coordinating with the Project Manager and field teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

You will review plans, procure tools and labor, interact with architects and owners, ensure safety, and mentor crew. Strong communication, organization, and leadership are required; construction experience with concrete and building codes is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Commercial Construction.
A demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
A valid driver's license.
Knowledge of building codes and blueprints.
Knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and quality requirements.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Strong problem solving skills and ability to interpret complex instructions.
Ability to proactively manage personnel issues.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to process information quickly and follow through with a course of action.
Operates office equipment (computer, printer, fax, copier, telephone).
Two to three years prior field experience in commercial construction preferred.
Craft skills in concrete, or other building trades or equipment operation preferred.

Responsibilities

Review plans and specifications to have a comprehensive knowledge of job requirements.
Develop job plan including schedule, access, manpower, building requirements, etc.
Procure tools, labor and some materials.
Interact with architects and owners to resolve job issues.
Meet with General Superintendent regularly for training and development.
Communicate construction issues and progress to supervisory personnel and clients.
Work with supervisors to resolve problems with the project work force.
Confer with supervisory/engineering personnel and inspectors to resolve construction problems.
Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance to specifications and schedules.
Manage the project based on progress reports, materials used and costs; adjust schedules.
Move personnel between projects to maximize resources.
Handle crew mixes and work assignments to manage labor costs.
Terminate craft personnel who are not performing according to policies.
Assist Project Manager in preparing the Project Management Plan.
Track and price extra work tickets, change requests and back charges.
Comply with safety policies; report unsafe activities.
Demonstrate integrity and adhere to company policies.
Participate in team environment and contribute to goals.
Accept accountability for performance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
