Community Partners in Action in Hamden, CT seeks a Youth Mentor for the REGIONS Site Secure Residential Treatment Program for male youth. The role supports daily activities, trauma-informed care, and gender-responsive services in a secure setting.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree or higher with relevant experience; a criminal justice degree with internship may substitute for work history. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher with experience working with at-risk or court-involved adolescents.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with related internship may substitute for work experience.
  • Willingness to work in a hardware secure environment.
  • Bi-lingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and care and assist youth with daily activities including school and groups.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, strengths-based, trauma-informed environment.
  • Monitor youth location at all times and follow agency policies.
  • Mediate and resolve youth problems using de-escalation techniques.
  • Conduct group sessions and DBT coaching as needed.
  • Complete logs and forms accurately and participate in discharge planning.
  • Support therapeutic programming under supervision and ensure safety checks.
  • Uphold boundaries with youth, families, and staff and participate in required trainings.
