Job summary

Community Partners in Action is seeking a Youth Mentor-Per Diem for the REGIONS Site Secure Residential Treatment Program for male youth in Hamden, CT. The role requires a minimum commitment of 24 hours per month with shifts on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay is $20.00 per hour, with trauma-informed, gender-responsive care at the core. Ideal candidates will hold an Associate’s degree or higher with experience with at-risk or court-involved youth; bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher with experience working with at-risk or court-involved adolescents.
• Understanding of gender-responsive, trauma-informed and linguistically appropriate care.
• Bi-lingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Must be willing to work in a hardware secure environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and care and assist youth with daily activities including school and groups.
• Maintain a safe, secure, strengths-based, gender responsive, trauma informed, linguistically appropriate and culturally sensitive environment.
• Mediate and resolve youth problems and implement agency policies.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and conduct groups to support positive behaviours.
• Complete logs and forms accurately and participate in treatment planning and discharge processes.

Skills

Experience with at-risk youth

Education

Associate’s degree or higher

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice (preferred)
