Job summary

S:US is seeking a Residential Specialist for their Bronx families shelter, located at E. 178 Street, Bronx, NY 10457. The role focuses on welcoming residents, promoting person-centered services, and ensuring safety around the clock.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in human services with 3+ years' social service experience.
  • F-02 certification is required.
  • Security license required or may be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma-informed, client-centered approach with anti-oppressive lens.
  • Use neutral, non-judgmental language when interacting with residents.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and able to respond to crises professionally.
  • Experience with homelessness, substance misuse, harm reduction; knowledge of LGBTQ, HIV/AIDS, elderly, and disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular rounds to ensure safety and residents' wellbeing.
  • Enter activity logs and shift notes promptly and accurately.
  • Complete admissions paperwork.
  • Escort residents to services and housing referrals.
  • Meet with Shift Supervisor for supervision and guidance.
  • Plan and/or lead self-care and social activities for residents.
  • Coordinate meals and support food services.
  • Attend trainings and agency meetings as needed.
