Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX is seeking a dedicated Child Care Provider to deliver trauma-informed, nurturing early childhood education within a shelter setting. You will plan activities, teach foundational skills, supervise routines, and maintain a safe classroom under supervision of the Program Director.

You will partner with caregivers, document progress, and communicate with parents to support each child’s healing and growth, while training volunteers on classroom policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a child-related field, or AA/AS with 1 year of child care experience, or CDA with 2 years of child care experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License and CPR/First Aid certification (or obtained within 90 days).

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement weekly activity plans developmentally appropriate.
• Follow Frog Street curriculum and Family Place guidelines.
• Teach basic skills and observe progress with portfolios.
• Collaborate with child care assistant to maintain a clean, safe classroom.
• Supervise mealtime, toileting, handwashing, rest periods and play.
• Arrange engaging, age-appropriate classroom spaces.
• Provide nurturing communication building trust with children.
• Support daily care needs and consistent encouragement.
• Maintain attendance per policies and procedures.
• Consult with Program Director about concerns before speaking to parents.
• Complete required documentation and logs in the tracking system.
• Provide guidance and training for assistants and volunteers.
