Job summary

Shelter House in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Case Manager to provide trauma-informed services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk. You will manage 18–20 households, assess needs, and create individualized service plans to secure and sustain housing.

You will collaborate with community resources, advocate for clients, and coordinate with partners to improve housing stability, employment, and well-being, while upholding iC.A.R.E. values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human development, or related field or commensurate experience.
• Three years of experience delivering services to low- and moderate-income families.
• Ability to prioritize competing priorities and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Advocate, solve problems, and achieve outcomes for families.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive client assessments including housing history and barriers.
• Manage an active caseload of 18–20 households with a Housing First approach.
• Develop and monitor Housing Sustainability Plans for long-term stability.
• Connect clients to community resources, benefits, healthcare, employment, and education.
• Assist with budgeting, financial literacy, and money management strategies.
• Support lease compliance and resolve housing stability issues.
• Mediate conflicts and maintain relationships with landlords and partners.
• Coordinate wraparound services with community agencies and faith-based groups.
• Document accurately in HMIS and client files and prepare timely reports.
• Utilize MS Office and Google Workspace to support daily operations.
