Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician in New York to provide frontline support for individuals experiencing homelessness. The role emphasizes crisis response, safety, and trauma-informed care.

You will work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with mandatory overtime, and you’ll gain certifications, structured training, and pathways to leadership within a mission-driven team. Experience in social services or emergency response is helpful, but the position also welcomes candidates with strong judgment

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
