Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician in New York to provide a steady, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, often during crises and transitions. This hands-on role emphasizes judgment, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

You’ll perform rounds, engage residents with de-escalation techniques, support safety procedures, document incidents, and pursue related training and certifications through BRC.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are essential.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while providing support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents with trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
