Job summary

Smart Foodservice Stores seeks a Manager, Transportation to lead a safety‑driven, cost‑conscious transport operation in the Marrero, LA area. You will supervise drivers and logistics staff, ensure safe, accurate daily outbound shipments, and collaborate with distribution centers to meet service goals.

The role requires at least three years in transportation or warehouse distribution, strong leadership and DOT/compliance knowledge, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution required.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
• Experience as a driver a plus.
• Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
• Strong understanding of DOT requirements. Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset to ensure injury-free operations for associates, customers, and the public.
• Oversee and develop drivers and transportation staff through coaching and policy training.
• Discuss performance with senior managers and create improvement plans.
• Maintain upward communication and drive the team to meet department goals.
• Supervise work and productivity of drivers and clerical staff; drive engagement and retention.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring transportation personnel; coach on service and safety targets.
