Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Manager, Transportation to lead a safety‑driven team and optimize outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers. The role emphasizes coaching, policy adherence, and cost‑effective operations while ensuring regulatory compliance across the Transportation department.

The position involves direct supervision of drivers and clerical staff, collaboration with senior managers, and a focus on engaging and retaining qualified personnel in a dynamic distribution

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
• Experience as a driver is a plus.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements and OSHA/regulatory guidelines.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset to maintain a safety-first culture.
• Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching and training.
• Discuss performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and address gaps.
• Create upward communication and motivate the team to meet department goals.
• Direct and supervise drivers and clerical staff in Transportation; drive engagement and retention.
• Support interviewing and hiring of Transportation personnel in collaboration with Sr. Managers.
• Monitor production goals and maintain accuracy to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Identify waste, and implement cost-effective, compliant solutions.
• Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings; oversee driver qualification files.
• Investigate accidents and take preventative actions.
• Schedule shifts using planning tools (e.g., Excel).
• Travel ~10% for meetings/training.
