Job summary

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Management Communications Specialist I, seeks a full-time candidate to receive, process, and disseminate traffic information using the TMC’s TMS. The role requires coordinating with operators during transit events and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
• License/Certification: None
• Other Requirements: Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint-based criminal background check; must be willing to work flexible hours; must be available for call-back duty during transportation events or emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Scans display wall to obtain traffic management information.
• Communicates with other TMC operators and supervisors to coordinate traffic management activities.
• Monitors real-time traffic flow data from multiple sources.
• Operates camera and scans multiple monitors to monitor, verify, and diagnose traffic events.
• Monitors and evaluates environmental conditions and RWIS (Roadway Weather Information Systems).
• Uses multi-channel telephone and radio headset to communicate with staff and the public about traffic events.
